Ingredients for Meringue

3 Egg Whites
1 pinch of Salt
1 Cup of sugar
1 pinch of powder food coloring

Directions

  1. Put the egg white and salt into the whisking bowl.
  2. Whisk the egg white until it turns white and foamy.
  3. The most important point to pay attention here is that not even a drop of egg yolk should mix into the egg white.
  4. Add the sugar slowly as you keep whisking. (If the mix does not get thick, you can add some more sugar.)
  5. Keep whipping until it turns thick, bright colour (for about 20 min.).
  6. If the mixture does not flow down from the spoon, then it has the right consistency.
  7. Once ready, fill the meringue mix into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  8. Place baking paper on the baking tray.
  9. Using the piping bag, pipe the meringues onto the baking paper.
  10. Put the meringues in the oven, set the oven at 100 °C and bake for 1 hour.
  11. The baking time may vary depending on the size of the piped meringues.
  12. Leftover mix can be used for making colourful meringues, by adding some food colouring.
  13. Once baked carefully for about 1 hour, the meringues are kept in the oven for another 15 min. after the oven is turned off.
